IBM and Lenovo sold these Sony batteries in systems listed below between February 2005 and September 2006. Customers who bought one of the following systems may have a battery subject to this recall:

ThinkPad R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e)
ThinkPad T Series (T43, T43p, T60)
ThinkPad X Series (X60, X60s)

Additionally, since these batteries can also be used with ThinkPad T4x Series or ThinkPad R5x Series systems, customers who ordered an extra battery or received a replacement battery for any ThinkPad T4x or ThinkPad R5x Series notebook PC between February 2005 and September 2006 may also have a battery subject to recall.

If your battery has been recalled, to continue using your ThinkPad notebook PC safely:

Turn off the system
Remove the battery
Power your system using an AC adapter
Lenovo apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this issue. Shipment of quality products always has been and continues to be the foremost concern.

As an ISA Server administrator, you can deploy the Firewall Client software on the client computers in your corporate network. In this way, these clients can have broader application access on the Internet; the client software enables clients to send requests to all Windows Sockets (Winsock)-based applications. Furthermore, as the administrator, you can configure a user-based firewall policy, which depends on the authentication credentials that the Firewall Client can present. This version of the Firewall Client software enables the installation of the Firewall Client on 32-bit and 64-bit computers.

I've been getting this intermittently.  Clients accessing my published websites get a 404 - 12028 error message.  I've actually had this problem since ISA 2004 RTM was deployed, and I've mitigated it by setting "requests appear to come from ISA server" setting.

Perhaps this hotfix will help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919621/.  This hotfix actually covers 2 other issues.  So to just patch this specific problem, refer to the reference to: 917265 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917265/) Error message when client computers that are behind a proxy server access Web sites that are published by using ISA Server 2004: “404 Not Found. The requested item could not be located (12028)”

Consider the following scenario:
- You have multiple Web sites that are hosted on a back-end Web server.
- You publish the Web server by using Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004.
- You use the Requests appear to come from original client option and the Forward the Original host header instead of the actual one [specified above] option to configure the Web publishing rule.

In this scenario, if you access the Web site from a client computer that is behind a proxy server that caches forward connections, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
404 Not Found. The requested item could not be located (12028)

About time this was isolated and released.  It's been driving me insane for over a year.

When does it not drain more quickly than expected?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918005/
Oh well.  Bug in Windows XP with SP2.

Fix available on page above.

1. The portable computer cannot enter the deeper Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) processor idle sleep states.
This occurs when the USB 2.0 driver leaves the asynchronous scheduler component running continuously. This prevents the processor from entering the deeper ACPI processor idle sleep states, or C-states. C-states save power when the processor is not busy. These states range from C0 to C3 or C4. Typically, an idle portable computer uses the C3 and C4 states to preserve battery power. If an idle portable computer cannot enter or maintain the C3 or C4 states, the battery power drains more quickly. This problem is fixed by installing the download that is available in this article.

2. The USB host controller is unable to turn off.
This typically occurs when devices are removed from a nested USB hub that is attached to the host controller. The host controller does not recognize the device removal. Therefore, the controller is never turned off. This prevents the processor from entering the ACPI processor idle sleep states. This problem is not fixed by installing the download that is available in this article.

3. The USB host controller uses the periodic scheduler for USB 2.0 devices.
This typically occurs when devices that rely on the periodic scheduler are attached to the host controller. These may be isochronous (Isoch) devices such as audio devices. Alternatively, they may be interrupt devices such as mouse or keyboard. This problem is not fixed by installing the download that is available in this article.

I've been beta testing MaxiVista 3.0.22 (beta) on Vista RC1.
Previous betas had driven me insane on earlier builds - and it was only in the past two weeks that I've started using it again.

I love it.  If you have more than one computer at your desk (or can have more than one!) this program makes it worth your time.  I have a desktop machine with dual 15" NEC MultiSyncs (two old 1545Vs) and my T40 connected together, and using this application, I can work on all three screens simultaneously.

It also offers clipboard synchronization (with file transfer support) as well as remote control capabilities on the secondary/tertiary screens.  The viewer software runs as a system service now.

I'd recommend it for anyone who wants more than two monitors attached to their system.  And yes, there's scientific research to support the increase in productivity too, to help justify the cost.

Failed Connection Attempt via Web Proxy Filter

Details:
KB 915045: Error 502 "The HTTP request includes a non-supported Header" when accessing certain web servers. This occurs when accessing certain Web servers that return headers that are incompatible with each other.
KB 915421: Errors 11001 or 400 when accessing certain web servers. This is caused by a misinterpretation of spaces in headers provided by ISA Server, and results in a corrupted URL and failure to load the Web page.
KB 915422: Event ID 23004 when accessing web sites that respond with compressed content. Some Web servers always return compressed content, which is denied by ISA Server when it did not request compressed content.
KB 916573: Error 500 (Internal Server Error. Not implemented (-2147467263)) when trying to download zip attachments from an Outlook Web Access server. The header returned by Outlook Web Access causes ISA Server to deny the response.

VMware products may not install on Windows hosts if the installer detects certain other VMware products on the computer.

Sometimes registry keys that should be removed during uninstallation of a product are left behind. This can happen if, for example, the host computer hangs or resets while you are uninstalling the previous product. When the installer finds these registry keys, it interprets their presence as an indication that the previous product is still installed.

If the uninstaller is still available, reboot and run it again. Be sure to run it when you are logged on as a member of the Administrators group.

If the uninstaller is not available, or if it does not run successfully, you can clean up after an incomplete uninstall on a Windows host by downloading and running VMware_Install_Cleaner.exe attached below. Be sure to run it when you are logged on as a member of the Administrators group.

Got a few of these devices kicking around?  I recently tried to install one of these PCMCIA cards on an old laptop - very painful since I didn't have the CD.
